Audience analysis goes hand in hand with an advertising strategy called "target marketing." As public speakers, we analyze our audience to increase our credibility. . . but what are the ethical issues?
Watch this video and post your thoughts (by clicking "comments" right below the title of this post) on the ethical issues of target marketting for 10 quiz points (due June 17th at 10:00pm). (PS -- this is actually just a trailer, but you can watch the whole documentary here.)

We have been informed, over the years, about the deceptive practices of corporate greed, and the underhanded methods they use to market their products. I watched the full version on Youtube.com. It was quite a shock to me and my wife after watching it of just how extensive the brain washing has become, especially how it is our children who are being targeted and taught how to influence us parents. The shame of it all is the American people cannot do anything about it. There is no longer any passion in our society for standing up for what is right and to be honest. We used to have a sense of pride, and at this point in time Corporate America has the power and the upper hand. Someday maybe....
Great comments from both of you. Jeff, I agree that the full version is quite jarring -- and goes hand in hand with our conversation about HSM in class on Thursday. There is one things we can do, though, and it starts with being informed and spreading the word to others. Though sometimes social ills feel so viral that they can't be stopped, we can at least do our part on a local level by telling our friends and families what to watch out for.
